My Holistic Healing Methods

Like a proverbial pebble dropped into a still pond,

the shifts of consciousness we make in our personal lives send out tiny but important waves that ripple over the surface of the whole.

I use various techniques to expand awareness and enhance deep well-being. My healing and teaching approach is similar to an archeological excavation of the psyche and soul that is guided and paced by my clients. In time, clients learn to “map out” the terrain, develop effective strategies to deal with pitfalls, and make the shifts and adjustments needed to regain and maintain inner balance.

The initial assessment for services consists of a traditional clinical interview and thorough evaluation of a few pivotal areas that are frequently thrown off-balance through daily living in modern society. I rely on my clients’ verbal accounts as well as on my intuitive perceptions, honed by years of experience and training, to determine if I can be of service and if we are a good match.

My holistic approach is partially informed by modern-day, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions but mostly guided by comprehensive transpersonal philosophies, bodymind psychotherapies, and time-tested deep healing practices that I acquired through my intensive trainings in Depth Hypnosis, Integrated Energy Medicine, Buddhist Psychology, Energy Psychology, and Advanced Shamanism at the Foundation of the Sacred Stream starting in 2005. For more information on the effectiveness of Depth Hypnosis techniques in treating depression, anxiety, and PTSD, check out this pilot study: Can Depth Hypnosis Heal Mood Disorders?

This rigorous training is continuously complimented by spiritually-oriented seminars, creativity webinars, and online programs, such as Jeffrey Davis' Tracking Wonder Quest and ArtMark, Chameli's Awakening Women with Lalita Devi, Pixie Campbell's SouLodge Buffalo Bootcamp, the TreeSisters and Tabitha Jayne's Nature Process, Marie Forleo's B-School, Selena Soo's Impacting Millions publicity program, and Kim Carpenter's World Changing Women's community.

Consequently, I view the presenting issues of each of my clients through shamanic (energetic), Buddhist (ego-attachment and karmic), developmental, psychodynamic (relational), systemic, multicultural, and feminist lenses that are consistent with my holistic notion of “self in context”.

Healing occurs through building a safe and trusting relationship which is my priority throughout my work with clients. Centering, focusing, and "trance-forming" techniques are interwoven and integrated when appropriate and include the exploration and energetic shifting of core-beliefs, feelings, and visceral sensations within a 7 Sacred directions Soul Sanctuary.  Some of the alchemy tools that are used in addition to conventional psychotherapy are: progressive relaxation, past and present life regressions, energetic clearings, body/breath techniques, shamanic journeying, guided imagery and visualization, mindfulness and insight-oriented meditation, hypnotherapy, artistic expression, qigong, and journaling.

Clients are encouraged to integrate the effects or insights of centering techniques that they may already rely on into their current treatment. Examples of such techniques include prayer, self-hypnosis, yoga, t’ai chi, aikido, writing, meditation, energy or body work, journeying, singing/music, art, painting, photography, connecting with nature, and many other forms of creative expression.

Being the wonderful teacher that she is, Loraine armed me with tools that led to greater awareness and capability to hold life’s ups and downs. She helped me uncover my wings, believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself, and helped me understand that courage is not always comfortable. It is with her kind and loving support that I was finally able to trust myself, jump, and take a graceful flight from my nest of childhood trauma.
